The Aircar UK is a two place vehicle with the occupants located right at the front of the machine. In the air, lift and forward motion are supplied by a ducted fan located just behind the crew at the centre of the Aircar. On the road, power is supplied directly to the wheels.
"Aircar UK, is an independant venture, a glimpse of the future - today," says designer Gary Payne. "The vehicle is a fully functional car, with an estimated top speed of 60 mph, but this car comes with a twist. It will be capable of vertical take off and landing, and be easy to maintain. It will also be cost-effective and reliable. The Aircar UK should be able to cruise at 200 miles per hour or more."
"Even in the instance of complete power loss the pilot and passenger are protected. Two airframe parachutes, front and rear, can be deployed in the event of a critical failure of the Aircar and will guide it safely and comfortably to the ground."
